A miniature bronze sculpture created in the form of a Thai-Chinese 'Pu Tai', commonly referred to as a 'Jovial Happy Buddha'. The figure is portrayed meditating
in a seated position or 'Virasana' posture, with the legs folded one atop the sole of the other foot, and both hands
resting on his abdomen. The facial expression is gentle and
compassionate, featuring a rounded face, curved eyebrows, a prominent nose, well shaped lips,
and a rounded chin.
The hair is in
large whorl knots.
The body is plump with the robe is worn diagonally over
the left shoulder, leaving the other bare. The image is seated on a simplistic pedestal slightly elevated
from the earth. Cast in the lost wax method,
the bronze surface has an rich aged patina covered in
gold-leaf lacquer paint. This wonderful miniature image stands 3.75 inches(9.53) in height, and is part
of a limited edition of 30. |
